Helen Astle

Helen was appointed as a Member-nominated Director in 2022 and is Chair of the Appeals and Discretions Committee. She also sits on the Investment Oversight Committee, and the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.

Helen has a portfolio career, combining her own legal consultancy and mediation business with non-executive appointments, including serving as a board member of CILEX Regulation Limited, a legal regulator. As a practicing solicitor and chartered governance professional, she has expertise in company law, governance, risk and regulatory compliance. 

Helen has extensive experience across pensions, financial services, healthcare and housing, and was the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at the London Pensions Fund Authority from 2020-2022.

Helen began her career as a healthcare professional and then worked in financial management, corporate finance, banking and legal services. She then held senior and executive legal and governance roles within regulated sectors.

She is an accredited civil, commercial, workforce and employment mediator, and holds an MBA, and Master of Laws degree in Corporate Governance and Law.
