You are encouraged to read these Terms carefully. By using any of our Online Services, you acknowledge and accept these Terms. If you do not accept these Terms, you should not use the Online Services or the services provided through them. On each occasion that you access the Online Services you will be deemed to have accepted the Terms as applicable at that time.
By using the Online Services you agree to our Cookie Policy.
Welcome to the Terms and Conditions for our Online Services (the “Terms”). These Terms are the legal agreement that apply to our relationship and your use of any of our Websites, Portals, Platforms and Online applications or our Apps (“Online Services”). Online Services include any mobile applications and associated functionality, including device-specific features such as biometric authentication, notifications, and app-based access features.
2. Privacy notices – how we use your information
You can view our privacy notices on our online sites to see how we collect and use your personal information. By using the Online Services, you agree to the relevant privacy notice.
Registering and signing in to an account
If you register an account with us on one of our online services, we will collect and process your personal details such as your name, membership/employer number, company, job title, email address, national insurance number and phone number. We will use this information to create an account for you and to help you sign into the account in future so you can access information relating to your pension savings and useful tools for managing and engaging with your pension savings.
You will be able to see the privacy notice relevant to your pension scheme during your online journey to explain in more detail how we will use your information. Please be aware that if you have (or if you are an employer, your employees have) pension savings which are administered by us, but the pension scheme is run by a different trustee to Verity Trustees Limited, the personal (and other) information which we collect and process on behalf of that trustee about you or your company will be subject to that trustee's privacy notice.
3. Communicating with you regarding your pension savings
We may use your email(s) we already have or you have used to register an account to provide you with helpful information relating to your pension savings and about useful tools for managing and engaging with your pension savings. If you would like to change your communication preferences, you can do so in your online account.
Where you use an App and choose to enable in-app or push notifications, those notifications may be used to alert you to account activity, service messages, reminders or other relevant updates. Notifications may not be secure and may be visible to anyone with access to your device, so you are responsible for managing your notification settings appropriately.
4. Financial and legal advice
From time to time, we provide financial information, articles and tools to help keep you informed about general financial, market and general public conditions.
Our Online Services and their content do not constitute accounting, broking, consulting, investment, insurance, legal, tax or any other type of financial advice for the purposes of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 or otherwise. Any information that is provided to members, prospective members or any other person (whether an individual or a company) should be taken as general information only and not advice or recommendation of any kind (whether financial, legal or otherwise).
When providing general information to members, prospective members or any other person, we take reasonable care to make sure that this is accurate. However, you should not rely on any of the information on our Online Services for advice or as a recommendation that a product or investment is suitable for you or your circumstances. Any decision or choice made after accessing the Online Services remains solely the individual's and we are not responsible in any way for such decisions and choices.
We would therefore strongly recommend that anyone accessing information on the Online Services takes independent financial advice or any other appropriate professional adviser who has full knowledge of your individual circumstances.
We accept no liability arising out of or in connection with any financial or other decisions that you choose to make having accessed our Online Services.
Some of the information, tools and articles presented on our Online Services are provided by third parties and do not represent our views or opinions. We are not responsible for the validity or accuracy of such publications and all publications are provided for information purposes only.

Similarly, no information contained on the Online Services represents an indication, promise or guarantee of investment performance.
If there is any conflict between any information given on the Online Services and your pension scheme’s trust deed and rules or any other scheme document, as they are relevant to you, the scheme documents will prevail subject only to HMRC limits and any other statutory and/or regulatory provision.
We have no liability to you or others regarding the Online Services, including damage caused by:

- third party interference such as hacking, computer viruses, bugs, trojans, information posted on the web by unauthorised parties, phishing, and any other cyber-crime.
We do not limit our liability for:
- death or personal injury as a direct result of our negligence; or
- for our own fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you may have under applicable law in relation to digital content or services where those rights cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
8. Availability of the Online Services
While we have taken care in the provision of the Online Services we cannot guarantee that you will have uninterrupted or error free access to them for their content at all times. We may suspend, withdraw, change or restrict the availability of all or any part of our Online Services for business and operational reasons without notice. We cannot be liable for any consequences that arise out of or in connection with any such lack of availability of the Online Services at any time.
We may terminate or restrict access to the Online Services where required for legal, regulatory, operational or security reasons.
9. Virus protection
We make every effort to check and test the Online Services for viruses at every stage of production, running and maintenance. You must not attack the Online Services in any way or facilitate (or attempt to facilitate) any other person doing so (or attempting to do so). This prohibition includes denial-of-service attacks.
We will report any attacks or attempts to gain unauthorised access to the Online Services to the relevant law enforcement authorities and share information about you with them.
11. What to do if you think something is inappropriate
If you believe that any content which is distributed by or published on the Online Services is inappropriate you should contact us immediately using the contact details set out below.
12. Information you provide
Where we provide you with products and financial services, we must have accurate information from you. So, in providing information to us, you confirm that all data you have given is accurate and if you wish to correct or update the information you give us, you can do so by contacting us.
Intentionally providing false or misleading information or using another person’s email or personal information for the purposes of falsely obtaining any of our products or services, may lead to termination or forfeiture of the product or services and may result in legal action. We may terminate any services or products provided to you or others based upon your intentionally providing materially false information or acting under a false identity that you have supplied to us.
13. External links
We may provide links to other websites that are not under our control. These links are provided for your convenience. When you activate these links, you will leave our Online Services. We do not endorse or take responsibility for the content on any third-party websites or their availability. We are not liable for any loss or damage that you may suffer by using those websites and you accept that you are accessing linked websites entirely at your own risk. You may not link any other websites to our Online Services without our permission
14. Site access and password usage
The Online Services are intended to be used only by UK residents. We do not represent that content available on or through Online Services is appropriate for use or available in other locations.
If you register an account with us, you are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for taking reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access to your account.
You must notify us promptly if you become aware of, or suspect, any unauthorised use of your login details or any other security breach.
We will not be responsible for any loss arising from unauthorised access resulting from your failure to keep your login details secure. Nothing in this paragraph limits our responsibilities to maintain appropriate technical and organisational security measures in accordance with applicable law.
15. Use of Mobile Apps and Device-Specific Features
15.1 Scope
These Terms apply to your access to and use of our mobile applications (the “App”) and any functionality made available through mobile devices, including tablets and smartphones.
15.2 App availability and updates
We may, from time to time, update, modify or withdraw the App (in whole or in part), require you to download and install updates to continue using the App or to access certain features, and change the technical requirements for use of the App (including supported operating systems and devices). We do not guarantee that the App will be compatible with your device or operating system, or that it will be available at all times.
15.3 Device security and use
You are responsible for maintaining the security of any device used to access the App, ensuring that your device has appropriate security protections (such as passcodes, passwords or other safeguards), and preventing unauthorised access to the App via your device.
15.4 Connectivity and functionality
The App may rely on internet, mobile network or other connectivity services provided by third parties. We are not responsible for any unavailability, interruption or degradation of service caused by your network provider or connectivity issues, or any loss of data or functionality arising from intermittent connectivity or offline use.
15.5 Third-party platforms
Where you download or access the App through a third-party platform, app store or marketplace, your use of that platform may be subject to additional terms imposed by the relevant provider. If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and any mandatory terms of that third-party platform or app store that apply to your use of the App, those mandatory third-party terms will take precedence to the extent of the inconsistency only.
15.6 Notifications
If you enable notifications (including push notifications), you acknowledge that notifications may not be secure and may be visible to others with access to your device, and that you are responsible for managing your notification settings through your device or within the App.
15.7 Biometric authentication
Where your device supports biometric authentication (such as fingerprint or facial recognition), you may choose to enable this feature to access the App.
If you enable biometric authentication:
- you authorise us to treat any successful biometric authentication on your device as valid authority to access your account and information;
- you acknowledge that biometric data is processed and stored by your device manufacturer or operating system provider (and not by us), and is subject to their terms and privacy policies;
- you are responsible for ensuring that only your biometric identifiers are registered on your device; and
- you should disable biometric access if your device is lost, stolen, compromised, or accessible by others in a way that could permit unauthorised access.
We are not responsible for any loss arising from unauthorised access to your account via biometric authentication where this results from your failure to secure your device or the registration of another person’s biometric identifiers on your device.
15.8 Use on another person’s device
If you download, install or use an App on a device that you do not own, you must have the owner’s permission to do so and you remain responsible for complying with these Terms in relation to that use.
15.9 Support and reporting issues
If you want to report a problem with an App or believe that an App or the related services are faulty or misdescribed, please contact us using the details on our website or via the relevant “Get in touch” contact route made available through the Online Services.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms, as well as the relevant Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy (which are contained in separate documents), from time to time to reflect legal, regulatory, operational or technical requirements. Where material changes are made, we will take reasonable steps to make updated versions available through the Online Services.
Your continued use of the Online Services after any updated Terms have been published will constitute your acceptance of those updated Terms. We may also amend or withdraw access, use, or registration requirements for the Online Services at any time to reflect business or operational needs. Where appropriate for an App, we may notify you of material changes through the App, when you next log in, or by other electronic means reasonably available to us.
17. Law
The laws of England and Wales shall govern the use of the Online Services and in the event of a dispute you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts. If mandatory consumer protection laws in the part of the United Kingdom in which you live give you the benefit of rights or remedies that cannot be excluded by contract, nothing in this clause affects those rights or remedies.
